屬於前衛音樂推動者之一的Alan
Parsons在70'年代的歌曲有著強烈的實驗色彩，也就是為什麼英國藝人之創作始終凌駕美國之上，特別是英國人受到古典音樂影響甚深，許多音樂創作者把古典樂加入搖滾樂中，或是用現代樂器來詮釋，加入了藝術後的搖滾樂稱之為〝Art
Rock〞，Alan Parsons就符合了此一條件。
Alan
Parsons本身就是一位專業音樂製作人，最早之錄音工程的作品為披頭四的〝Abbey Road〞，在披頭四解散之後再為Paul
McCartney的〝Wild life〞與〝Red Rose Speedway〞製作，其間也製作了〝The
Hollies〞５張專輯之多，其中大家較熟悉的歌包括〝He ain't heavy,He's my brother〞、〝The air that
I breathe〞等等經典名曲，讓Alan Parson真正進入世界舞台的是錄製Pink Floyd的〝Dark Side of the
moon〞專輯也也在1973年葛萊美提名最佳錄音工程，另外也為英國民謠歌手Al Stewart兩張大作〝Year of the
cat〞和〝Time passages〞擔任製作人，Alan Parson為Ambrosia製作〝Some where I've
never〞專輯再度又被葛萊美提名最佳錄音工程。
1976年終於有機會自立門戶，首張專輯〝Tales of mystery and
imagination〞另外兩位新搭檔Eric Woolfson和Amdrew
Powell，此張專輯參與的歌手樂師，管弦樂團總共二百多人，製作之用心，工程之浩大，從此團名稱為Alan Parsons Project。
Alan Parsons Project每張專輯都有一個主題，例如〝Tales of
mystery and imagination〞是依據19世紀美國作家Edgar Allen Poe著作改編而來。
第二張〝I Robot〞專輯改編自科幻小說家Isaac
Asimov，此張專輯編曲加入許多合成電子樂器，較符合現代，也因此拿下第一張白金唱片。
1980年專輯〝The turn of a friendly
card〞兩首暢銷曲〝Time〞與〝Games People play〞為他們打開了國際市場，也越來越多人知道他們。
1982年由Alan Parsons主唱Eire Woolfson製作改編自Philip
K.Dick小說，了解到歌詞中人要心存善念，不做虧心事，因為老天有眼〝Eyes in the sky〞這也是運用合成樂器較出色的一張。
1987年專輯〝Try anything
once〞找了許多不錯的樂手在自家錄製近百天而完成，發行時卻用Alan Parsons發表，卻少了Project，原來是老搭檔Eire
Woolfson離開。
